20 Days of Theatrical Thanks 2012: Day 9

Today I’m thankful for… damned good lighting designs.

Inspired lighting design can entirely transform the tone and meaning of a production, and when it’s done exceptionally well it’s just plain orgasmic — at least for this gal. I’ve been semi-obsessed with designer Neil Austin since I first saw his work on (what else?) Parade, but seriously, the man is brilliant. Here are some highlights (you can read more about my thoughts on his designs for Red and Hamlet here):
